Growing together The Accounting Consultant role within Individual and Family Plans will primarily be responsible to lead the day-to-day execution of core accounting functions, including general ledger activities, financial analysis, and financial reporting. This role ensures accuracy, compliance with GAAP, and support of financial close, financial reporting, and audit processes in a rapidly growing and increasingly complex business.

Serve as a trusted accounting partner to business leaders, finance teams, and cross-functional stakeholders Lead monthly closing activities for assigned, including full P&L and balance sheet ownership Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries in accordance with GAAP and company policies Perform account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve complex accounting and financial reporting issues Analyze monthly financial results and prepare clear P&L and balance sheet variance commentary Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting activities, including preparation or review of financial statements and supporting schedules Develop, document, implement, and maintain effective accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of accounting processes and reporting Manage multiple priorities independently and collaborate with team members to ensure accurate and timely deliverables Solve moderately complex problems and/or conduct moderately complex analyses You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and / or relevant accounting/finance experience 3+ years of Accounting experience including month-end close, preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations Experience working with general ledger / sub-ledger accounting applications Solid understanding and practical application of U. S. GAAP Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Public accounting experience and / or CPA designation Healthcare industry experience Experience with Peoplesoft Financials, Hyperion SmartView and Blackline Ability to demonstrate solid planning and organizational skills, along with a high degree of detail orientation Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and written Proven ability to work in both team and self-directed work environments Proven ability to solve moderately complex problems and / or conduct moderately complex analyses Proven ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple projects Proven to be a self-starter and solid time management *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.

The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment.
