Under the direction and supervision of the Controller, the accounting manager directs the performance of professional accounting work for the organization. Responsibilities include managing the financial close process, annual audit process, external financial reporting processes and maintaining the integrity of the financial records and the general ledger. Manages and supervises accounting and payroll personnel.
Requires good communication and customer service skills, professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking skills. Strong written and verbal communication/interpersonal skills to manage relationships and collaborate with all levels of management to include department directors and colleagues with varying professional backgrounds. Coordinates month-end close process to prepare financial statements and supporting documents for administration and board. Includes analysis and review of financial records, account analysis and reconciliation, preparation of detail financial reports and preparation of journal entries. Coordinates completion of annual audit process including fieldwork scheduling, preparation of detailed work papers, monitoring filing deadlines, and assisting auditors during fieldwork.
Manages external financial reporting processes including cost reports, tax returns, payroll reporting and bond reporting. Coordinates completion of records required for filing and manages filing deadlines. Assist Controller with treasury management function including cash balance monitoring and funds movement.
Maintains working knowledge of ancillary finance systems including budgeting, cost accounting, fixed assets, non-patient billing and productivity. Includes preparation and analysis of financial reports. Prepares financial and statistical reports as requested for administration and department directors.
Provides leadership, mentoring, education, timely feedback, and guidance to department associates to ensure a competent and engaged employee group. Ability to use appropriate interpersonal styles and techniques to gain acceptance of ideas or plans; modifying one's own behavior to accommodate tasks, situations and individuals involved.
