Work Shifts Tuesday - Saturday 9:00 A. M – 5:00 P. M Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of Position: Under supervision, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment, performs responsible therapeutic work of more than ordinary difficulty.
In addition to performing the typical tasks described in Assignment Level I, is also responsible for one or more of the following tasks: 1. Researches, plans, and implements person-centered therapeutic recreation programs tailored to residents’ routines, needs, and leisure interests. 2. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment team members and families to deliver effective therapeutic recreation (TR) interventions daily. 3.
Leads and facilitates person-centered recreation sessions, applies appropriate therapeutic interventions, and coordinates special events and outings as needed. 4. Coordinates and assists with resident transport and supervision during all scheduled therapeutic recreation activities. 5. Maintains and updates the ActivityPro software system, ensuring programming reflects individual preferences, and generates reports as required. 6.
Assesses residents’ specific TR needs and documents findings in PointClickCare (PCC), including care plans, goals, interventions, quarterly and annual assessments, progress notes, and MDS sections. 7. Reviews and audits department documentation in PCC on a routine basis to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards. 8. Coordinates and schedules TR programs that align with residents’ needs, goals, and leisure interests. 9.
Evaluates the effectiveness and daily functioning of both group and individual TR programs to ensure meaningful engagement and outcomes. 10. Trains and mentors staff on new therapeutic techniques and interventions for individual and group activities. 11. Maintains proper operational levels of all equipment, supplies, and work areas to support safe and efficient service delivery. 12.
Contributes to performance improvement projects and interdisciplinary committees, including Palliative Care, Fall Prevention, and Behavioral Health initiatives. 13. Conducts in-service training sessions within specialized areas of therapeutic expertise. 14. Communicates and reports residents’ behavioral, emotional, and functional responses during recreational sessions to the treatment team.
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and One year of full-time experience in planning, coordinating and supervising a recreation activities program in a hospital, health care or related facility.
