✓Requirements
Licensure
✓Required - National Certification Board for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (NCBAHM) national board certification as a Diplomat of Acupuncture.
✓Current license as a registered acupuncturist in the state of practice.
Certifications
Preferred - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association or achieve within 90 days of hire.
Education
✓Required - Graduate from an approved program of the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).
Qualifications
✓1850 hours of training.
✓Knowledge of medical terminology.
✓Knowledge of basic theoretical concepts necessary to the practice of acupuncture.
✓Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to acupuncture.
✓Ability to position the patient appropriately based on the location of selected points, locate the selected points, and use appropriate therapeutic techniques.
✓Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
✓Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
✓Proficient with Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
✓Strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred - 2 years of experience in providing acupuncture services to the public within the past 5 years.
