✓Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia and licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist or Certified Nurse Midwife in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant
Certifications
✓5 years as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Certified Nurse Midwife, Radiologist Assistant or Physician Assistant
✓American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification.
✓American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) required for selected clinical practice settings.
✓Other certifications may be required to be obtained after hire depending on the clinical setting
Education
✓Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and Certified Nurse Midwife); Master’s or Doctorate in Science (Physician Assistant or Radiologist Assistant)

✓Maintain an active clinical practice representing approximately 60–70% of total effort
✓Establish and maintain local standards for clinical practice consistent with CAP and divisional expectations.

✓Monitor scope-of-practice, credentialing, and competency requirements for team members.
✓Serve as a resource and advocate for APP staff, supporting professional growth and engagement
✓Pursue ways to enhance the contribution of advanced practice to the clinical mission.
✓Support fellow clinicians' professional development, mentorship, and career progression.
✓Model and promote the professional identity of advanced practice within the broader UVA community.
