✓Current applicable Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association or American Red Cross Life Support certification(s) based on UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers.
Education
✓Graduate of a master’s degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program. OR
✓Master’s degree or higher in nursing, documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.
Qualifications
A minimum of one (1) year of surgical, surgical oncology, acute care, or other relevant inpatient experience is preferred.
Experience managing postoperative patients, recognizing acute clinical changes, and coordinating complex inpatient care is strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate is clinically confident, communicates directly, advocates appropriately, and can identify and communicate support needs within a collaborative team environment. preferred
For Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) training or experience is preferred. Candidates with prior First Assist experience in the operating room, endocrine surgery experience, or a surgical background applicable to endocrine surgery are strongly preferred.
