AHN System Chair, Department of Hematology and Oncology - Allegheny Health Network primarily located at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, seeks a highly skilled and compassionate physician leader with expertise in Hematology and Oncology. This position offers a System Chair leadership role in a growing and dynamic program, including divisions in Medical Oncology and Hematology and Cell Therapy, dedicated to clinical and translational research as well as exceptional patient care.
The Chair will work directly with the Cancer Center Director, the Service Line Vice President and other leaders to develop and implement strategy and processes for patient care. The Chair shall also maintain all current and future standards of care, both in-patient and out-patient, as well as accreditations needed to ensure service for the region. The Chair will assume responsibilities for research and development within the division and connect these activities to the larger goals of AHN.
The successful candidate will be considered for the role of AHN System Chair, Department of Medical Oncology. Highlights: Team Structure: The Department has divisions in Medical Oncology and Heme and Cell Therapy. In partnership with the Department Vice President, the chair will oversee greater than 40 physicians and greater than 60 APP’s within the department.
Academic and/or mentoring opportunity: The department has a hematology and oncology fellowship training program with 4 fellows per year, for a total of 12 fellows. Duties: Ability to clearly articulate a vision, drive innovative, inspire others and set high expectations for achievement Demonstrate a commitment to collaboration by working effectively within a team-oriented environment and maintaining the highest level of customer service Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences Proactively identify issues and implement solutions Adopt value-based care quality system metrics Mentor and develop physician staff and team Prepare all necessary documentation including, but not limited to orders, consents, charges and medical documentation Direct all activities related to maintaining and advancing patient care within the department Oversee all programmatic and operational aspects of the Department of Hematology and Oncology Participate in regional, national, and international meetings Participate in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows Contribute to research activity within the department, including investigator-initiated trials, cooperative group and industry-sponsored clinical trials, laboratory investigation, and publication of research findings
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) Board-certified in oncology and/or hematology Completion of an ACGME-approved Oncology/Hematology Fellowship Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania prior to employment 7+ years of experience in oncology/hematology Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Strong commitment to patient care and education
