✓Founded in 1986, Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is a 106-bed hospital facility accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC) and licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).
Education
✓Master’s degree in social science, such as counseling, psychology, or social work required.
Qualifications
✓Knowledge of current psychiatric diagnostic and treatment terminology.
✓Familiarity with crisis intervention techniques, biopsychosocial assessments, mental status examinations, and clinical interviews.
✓Must have knowledge of various types of referral sources in the area, as well as the various types of funding available.
✓Knowledge of and ability to use oral and writing composition skills, basic math, personal computer, Excel and Word software, telephone, copier, and fax machine.
One or more years’ experience in mental counseling, crisis intervention counseling preferred.
Preferred experience in an acute psychiatric healthcare setting.
