The Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston is seeking a full-time faculty member. Candidates would be appointed to the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on experience and academic productivity, in the Department of Pediatric Surgery , with a joint appointment in the Department of Neurosurgery . Shah, you will work primarily in the Pediatric Neurosurgery unit and inpatient/outpatient clinic setting, with rotation to the Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital OR, inpatient floor, Emergency Room, and UTP outpatient clinics and coverage for The Woman’s Hospital of Texas (HCA) . In this position, you will require 10–12-hour shift coverage that may include early morning and evening shifts, including Saturday and Sunday rotations.
This role requires strong clinical assessment, triage, and clinical judgment skills to evaluate pediatric patients with acute and chronic conditions and provide pre- and post-operative care. Responsibilities include facilitating daytime consults, procedures, and admissions; managing inpatient care, discharge planning, and post-operative follow-up; and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
The candidate will also educate fellows, residents, and students and may provide telephone triage and follow-up for post-operative and emergency department patients. The pediatric neurosurgery service offers comprehensive clinical programs in neuro-oncology, movement disorders, vascular neurosurgery, epilepsy, craniofacial surgery, and fetal myelomeningocele repair within a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary neuroscience program.
The candidate will participate in educational, quality improvement, and research initiatives, including leading and collaborating on NIH-funded studies. Texas Medical license or eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License Board-certified or board-eligible for the American Board of Neurosurgery and the American Board of Pediatric Neurosurgery.
