Assistant Director - BHS

The Assistant Director supports the Director in managing and coordinating nursing services to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. This leadership role assists with planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and standards of care. Support the Director in overseeing daily nursing operations and staff performance. Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating nursing policies, procedures, and protocols. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and facility policies.

Participate in hiring, training, evaluating, and coaching nursing staff to maintain high standards of care and professionalism. Help manage staffing schedules, assignments, and coverage needs. Conduct clinical rounds to assess patient care, safety, and satisfaction.

Monitor and ensure accurate documentation of care and treatment by nursing staff. Support infection control, quality assurance, and risk management initiatives. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support care coordination and treatment planning.

Respond to patient or family concerns with professionalism and empathy, escalating issues as appropriate. Act as a liaison between nursing staff and administration. Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Nursing.

Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Required High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent Completion of an accredited program of nursing Preferred Bachelor’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration Master’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration

Required Three years of experience in clinical nursing Preferred One or more year of leadership experience Certification/Licensure: Required Licensed Vocational Nurse, with authorization to practice in the State of Texas Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Must obtain within ninety (90) days of start date SAFE Approach Level III Certification Must obtain within six (6) months of start date Preferred Registered Nurse (RN), with authorization to practice in the State of Texas
