Work Shifts 9:00 A. M – 5:00 P. M Duties & Responsibilities The Assistant Director of Employee Retirement Services supports HR Retirement Services activities and serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all areas of retirement and benefit-related matters for employees across the System.
The Assistant Director provides high-level customer service to employees and collaborates closely with the Chief Retirement Officer in executing and managing the day-to-day functions of the department. SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Act as a retirement Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a solid understanding of the various retirement plans: NYCERS, 403(b) TDA, 401(k), and 457 Plans. Coordinate and plan with the various retirement plans (NYCERS, TDA, DCP) and other agencies (e.g., SSA) to provide Financial Wellness seminars for NYC H+H employees. Attend and present at SNEO, Benefits Fairs, and other seminars as needed; travel to different facilities as needed to support the team.
Assist with the management of the administration of the Voluntary Defined Contribution Plan. Conduct Retirement Exit Processing. Provide monthly retirement-related reports from the H+H system.
Prepare drafts and implement approved Central Office announcements related to Financial Wellness seminars and TDA one-on-one appointments. Assist in the development and delivery of Retirement Exit Processing training for various HR teams throughout the System. Arrange and set up conference rooms for various seminars and meetings.
Interact daily with employees to answer questions and advise on retirement-related issues. Assist key business partners in resolving, researching, and responding to employee inquiries and ensure operational tasks are completed. Track and monitor system-wide Employee Exit Surveys.
Assist in the issuance of approved Hospital Police Retiree IDs Ensure prompt and effective response to all plan sponsor inquiries (e.g., Empower, OLR); research and respond to daily inquiries. Utilize exceptional customer service skills and vendor relationships to coordinate responses to client service requests in ways that exceed their expectations. Provide consultation to retiring employees to obtain and provide necessary information, explain available benefits and options, and prepare written correspondence and other documents to provide employees as needed for retirement related purposes.
Serve as a system-wide resource for employees to resolve complex retirement and benefits issues, demonstrating a full understanding of the various retirement plans, plan administration, and employee sensitivities, needs, and objectives. Other duties as directed
1. A Master's Degree with specialization in Personnel Management, Business Administration, Labor Relations, Psychology or Vocational Guidance, and two years of experience in personnel management or personnel administration in a large governmental agency, hospital or healthcare facility or civic organization or business firm employing at least three-hundred employees, one year of which must have been in a responsible administrative or supervisory capacity; or, 2.
A Baccalaureate Degree issued from an accredited college or university, and three years of experience as indicated in (1), two years of which shall have been in a responsible administrative or supervisory capacity. (Experience which consists solely of the maintenance of personnel transactions will not be accepted); or, 3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
