- Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as an Assistant Patient Care Manager in CCD Operating room at our Hyde Park campus. This is a full-time, onsite position. The Assistant Patient Care Manager (APCM) supports the Patient Care Manager (PCM) in overseeing daily operations, patient flow, staff support, and the delivery of safe, patient-centered care. The APCM leads assigned shift activities, supports quality and regulatory readiness, and assumes responsibility for the unit in the PCM’s absence. Essential Job Functions
- Coordinate patient flow and support safe, efficient care in the preoperative and recovery areas.
- Lead staff huddles and complete daily or shift-specific quality audits.
- Round with staff, patients, and families to identify and address concerns.
- Support staff orientation, coaching, competency development, and performance conversations.
- Participate in interviewing and selecting staff.
- Monitor staffing, productivity, supplies, and resource use in collaboration with the PCM.
- Promote patient safety, workplace safety, and regulatory readiness.
- Review and report safety events and participate in quality-improvement activities.
- Collaborate with nursing, anesthesia, procedural teams, and other departments to support patient care and timely transitions.
- Support shared governance and a respectful, collaborative work environment.
- Carry out other responsibilities assigned by the PCM or senior leadership. Required Qualifications
