Cardiac Device Specialist

The Cardiac Device Specialist is responsible for the clinical, technical, and educational aspects related to the care of those patients who have implanted cardiac devices. They perform device checks and remote monitoring of implanted cardiac devices, and well as post implant site checks. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education or Formal Training Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.) 1.

International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) certification in Devices is required. 2. Clinical Cardiac Device Specialist certification preferred. Knowledge, Skill and Ability 1.

Ability to effectively operate cardiac device programmers and ability to effectively troubleshoot complex interrogated device information. 2. Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment. 3. Ability to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal communication skills; both written and verbal. 4.

Ability to work independently under the general supervision of a cardiac electrophysiologist. 5. Ability to work effectively as part of a team; collaborates with other team members from other disciplines. 6. Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills. 7.

Ability to problem solve in a highly effective and efficient manner. 8. Ability to travel between Hospital and clinic sites. Experience 1.

Experience with implantable cardiac devices, device programmers, and device interrogation preferred. 2. Oversees post procedural appointments for cardiac device generator replacements, and new implants. Incorporates patient and family education, and the Surgical Site Infection (SSI) strategies reflective of Surgical Care Infection Prevention (SCIP) and Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) best practices. 4. Provides patient education and troubleshooting to promote and maintain remote patient follow-up by trans-telephonic monitoring 5.

Responsible for trouble-shooting, evaluating and interpreting technical and arrhythmia information upon interrogation of the implanted cardiac device, and subsequent physician communication 6.
