The Cardiovascular Sonographer I will perform a variety of cardiovascular procedures to produce images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Position Key Accountabilities:
Performs cardiovascular procedures on adult patients: Prepares patients for tests, explains the process, selects suitable imaging techniques, and ensures the technical quality of the images. Assists in maintaining proper patient flow and ensures the delivery of quality services in the cardiology department. Enters and monitors patient data, health history, and vital signs relevant to the exam being conducted.
Maintains safety, environmental, and infection control procedures for the department. Attends continuing education opportunities to stay abreast of technological advances. Must be able to respond to emergency situations.
Position may require travel to other UT Physicians/UT Health clinic locations. Performs other duties as assigned. Certification/Skills: Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
Knowledge of patient rights and laws relative to those rights, such as HIPAA. Proficiency in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) required or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) required Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) preferred Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) preferred Minimum
Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) in Cardiac Sonography Technology, Radiologic Technology, or Sonography Technology by an accredited or approved education program required Minimum
