Caseworker (UTSA)

Full time · 8am-5pm Mon-Fri Under general supervision, responsible for working within a multidisciplinary team providing clinical care to community adult and adolescent outpatients with serious mental illness, substance use disorder and other co-morbid conditions. Evaluates and assesses patient's behavior, emotional responses, interpersonal relationships, and social conditions. Gives diagnostic impressions and treats adults, adolescents, and families.

Develops individual treatment plans for patients and documents case records as needed. Maintains regular contact with each assigned patient to monitor responses to services and identify problem areas. Assists with developing and implementing evidence-based treatment models.

Responsibilities may include crisis interventions as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned. Ability to analyze, compare and evaluate aspects of the treatment program.

Primary activities and decision making authority will be performed under the supervision of a licensed clinician. Ability to communicate in a courteous, pleasant and professional manner. Ability to observe a patient's issues, and analyze what is needed to help them without putting them at further risk.

Ability to work one-on-one with patients every day, working with people in close situations, be a good communicator and listener. Ability to talk with patients and their families and be able and willing to deliver both good and bad news in the most compassionate way possible. Ability to write progress notes according to standard, assessments, memos, letters, various complex reports and other documents with acceptable spelling and grammar.

Bachelors' degree in social work, counseling, or psychology is required.
