Licensure
✓Registered Nurse (RN) State Licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON) required
✓Licensed Dietitian by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) required
Certifications
✓Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) by Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE) required
Education
✓Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s Degree in Food & Nutrition Sciences or related field.
Qualifications
✓Registered Dietitian (RD) by Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required
✓Three years of experience. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
✓Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.

About the role

The Certified Diabetes Educator will provide extensive outpatient and in-patient education on the necessary lifestyle changes involved in a diabetes diagnosis, including nutrition, medication, physical activity and glucose testing.
