Certified Medical Asst

POSITION PURPOSE To assist in day to day management of the patient care area. Obtain necessary patient information and to assist the providers in medical procedures. Assist the RN, LPN, and the clinical staff in performing their duties and carrying on the necessary functions required in accordance with established policies and procedures.

1. High School Graduate or GED equivalent from a department of education accredited program required. 2. Medical Assistant certificate/license. 3.

One (1) year of outpatient experience preferred. 4. American Heart Association BLS certification required. 5. Phlebotomy drawing certificate preferred. 6.

Must have thorough education or training in the basics of medical terminology. 7. Demonstrated knowledge of computers and proficiency in the use of an electronic health record system required, E Clinical Works preferred. Knowledge of web based programs and Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook, Word and Excel preferred. 8.

Strong customer service skills and ability to multi-task while working in a high volume work environment required. LANGUAGE SKILLS 1. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English 2.

Ability to speak a relevant second language preferred. 3. Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, medical staff, and hospital staff. 4. Ability to identify and implement appropriate patient communication strategies and overcome accessibility barriers, as required. 5.

Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients such as cardiac arrest or other emergencies. jj.kk. Works under the direction of the Physician Practice Manager, the CNO, the Clinical Coordinator, and Medical Director to oversee, manage, train, and assist nurse and other staff within the department. kk.ll.

Will follow all hospital and clinic policies regarding clinical and non-clinical job duties. 2. COMPLIANCE/FINANCIAL: a. Supports HRMC’s Mission Statement and follows the Medical Center’s Compliance Program and Ethical Standards of Conduct. b.

Supports Departmental Policies related to compliance and completes documentation in observance of regulatory Standards. c. Maintains a knowledge base of HIPAA and HITECH awareness and complies appropriately. d. Attends training and in-services concerning all aspects of assigned duties.

Responsibilities to include, but not limited to, federal and state statutes, regulations and guidelines. e. Reports any incidences of suspected fraud, waste or abuse violations to the Compliance Officer. f. Utilizes PTO/DTO system appropriately. g.

Uses equipment and supplies in a responsible manner avoiding unnecessary use and abuse. 3. COMMUNICATION/INTERPERSONAL

a. Acts as a liaison between patients, physicians, nursing and other departments to facilitate a collaborative practice in the provision of quality patient care. b. Investigates specific problems objectively, timely and completely before making judgements or decisions.

Utilizes available resources as appropriate. c. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing and administrative hierarchical structure and chain of command. Follows proper lines of communication. d.
