Harnar Burn Center is one of under 70 verified burn centers in the United States. UMC’s coverage area encompasses a vast expanse of New Mexico, Western Oklahoma, Southern Kansas and all of West Texas making it the third largest geographic area of all regional burn centers in the country. We are in the top 15 busiest burn centers in the nation, caring for not only burns, but also any soft tissue problems including snakebites, necrotizing soft tissue infections, and surgical wounds.
Through our affiliation with Texas Tech's School of Medicine, UMC's Burn Center also is a leading force in research on burn treatment. The center has 6 critical care beds and 8 intermediate care beds. We keep our burn center patients in the unit for their entire hospital stay so we have every level of acuity.
We care for patients of all ages. Nurses in the Burn Center are also trained to work in the Trauma and Surgical ICU. Qualifications CNAs have completed Nurse Aide course and present Nurse Aide certification or have documented one-year experience as a Nurse Aide or have military training equivalent to a Nurse Aide.

REQUIRED LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS: Nursing Aide Certification SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The Certified Nurse Aide Technical Procedure Privileging Form details procedures the employee is expected to perform and must be completed by the end of the 3-month probationary period. Age specific knowledge is required when needed for appropriate patient care.
INTERACTION WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS AND OTHER RELATIONSHIPS: This position requires close interaction with other ancillary departments to facilitate a quality multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES: Work is of medium demand. Standing, walking most of the time on duty.
Lifting and pushing patients, carts, and wheelchairs. Good tactile sensation is necessary for checking patients. Talking and hearing to converse with patients and staff members.
Near visual acuity for accurate reading of gauges and thermometers and for recording on patients' charts. ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside. Hours of duty may be irregular covering various shifts.
