You’ll need
Certifications
✓Graduate of an accredited school and certification (CNA)
✓Current BLS
Qualifications
✓Practices nursing within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of Texas and accepts responsibility and accountability for own actions
✓Knowledge of vital sign monitor operation
✓Basic knowledge and understanding of nursing diagnosis
✓Knowledge of Principles of Standard Precautions
✓Knowledge of Nursing care for the post-surgical patient
✓Possesses appropriate communication skills to practice collaborative nursing
✓Ability to adapt to unexpected changes, effectively acclimate to various work schedules to achieve high quality of care
✓Ability to respond quickly, physically, and mentally when priorities and/or the patient’s condition changes
✓Ability to use a structured format for regular communication with patients and family
✓Ability to use downtime effectively, help and respond positively to request for assistance from team members
✓Compliance with facility policies and procedures
✓Compliance with continuing and mandatory education programs
✓Previous post-surgical care experience

About the role
The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for admitting the patient to the clinical area and providing nursing care to the post-operative patient, as well as, developing a nursing care plan specifically designed for the individual patient.
