In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Assists in the admission of patients to the unit to include orientation to the unit, hospital routine and patient care equipmentResponds to the needs of patients with direct assistance when able or by reporting patient need to the appropriate personAssists with implementation of nursing care plan by carrying out delegated patient care tasksAssists in maintaining patient safety to include the proper use of equipment and suppliesAccess to medication/supply room to retrieve patient care items for patient care use as applicable per unitMaintains a well-stocked, clean patient environmentActively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient servicesParticipates in educational and Performance Improvement activitiesPerforms additional skills, which may include, but are not limited to, phlebotomy, 12 lead EKG, waived lab testing per unit competency.
Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP)Other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training: High school graduate or equivalent requiredNursing Assistant certification requiredCurrent registration with North Carolina Board of Nursing as Nursing Assistant II and with the Division of Facility Services as Nursing Assistant IWork
