Certifications
✓Completion of a two-year certified ophthalmic assistant program preferred but not required.
✓Certified as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) through Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) or eligible for certification within one year.
✓BLS required.
✓The non- certified employee will have 12 months from start date to obtain COA certification through Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology( JCAHPO).
✓Minimum of 2 years of specialized ophthalmic experience with completion of a certified technician program.
✓Certification as a COT through Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) required and must be maintained throughout employment.
✓Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

About the role

Performs advanced medical history, checks patient's visual acuity, dilates patient's eyes. Performs basic slit-lamp exam, visual fields, color vision tests, lensometry, tonometry, keratometry, and refractometry. Assists with office surgical procedures.
