Offers spiritual and emotional support directly to patients and their families, caregivers, and team members. Responsible for assisting with organization of daily activities as assigned. Job Duties: Functions as a member of the team by attending interdisciplinary team conference, support meetings, and other meetings as appropriate Assesses each patient, family member, and caregiver for spiritual needs and concerns in consultation with other team members Provides direct chaplaincy services (when accepted) to patients, family members, and caregivers of different philosophies and religious perspectives Consults, if requested by patient or family, the patient’s clergy of choice and advises them on admission Documents all visits and phone calls in the electronic medical record within an appropriate time frame Provides consultation, counsel, and support to other team members as appropriate Assists with training programs and in-service education as requested Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.

As a trusted member of an interdisciplinary care team, you will provide compassionate spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members while helping individuals navigate illness, healing, grief, and life's most significant transitions.
In this flexible role, you'll deliver faith-sensitive, patient-centered care across diverse spiritual, religious, and cultural backgrounds, offering comfort, guidance, and hope when it matters most. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, you'll contribute to whole-person care that honors each individual's beliefs, values, and unique journey Hours: This is a Flex position (per diem, hours as needed).

Master's Degree in Divinity, Theology, Ministry, or a related field. Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education Required Ordination, Commissioning, or Ecclesiastical Endorsement from a recognized religious organization. Board Certified Chaplain (Association of Professional Chaplains) within three years of hire Bring comfort, hope, and healing to those who need it most while serving as a respected member of Geisinger's spiritual care team.
