You’ll need
Certifications
Certification by the College of Chaplains or the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. preferred
Certification by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. preferred
Education
✓A Master of Divinity or equivalent graduate degree from a Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) accredited institution that includes theological, spiritual, and/or religious studies
Qualifications
✓Minimum of 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
✓Reasonable chaplain experience in a hospital pastoral care department.
✓Reasonable community pastoral experience.
Strong preference given to candidates with training in pediatric chaplaincy (i.e. Pediatric Chaplains Institute, pediatric residency, etc.) preferred
Strong preference given to candidates with experience providing spiritual care in a psychiatric unit preferred
Excellent cultural, multi-faith, and developmental humility and awareness preferred
Skilled in developing rapport and effectively communicating with a diverse patient population. preferred
Effective organizational skills, flexibility, self-motivation, and the ability to effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks in a dynamic medical clinic preferred
Effective collaboration with a large multi-disciplinary team preferred
Skilled in interpersonal and group dynamics with an ability to offer appropriate recommendations and interventions particularly around communication and conflict preferred
Proficiency in keeping accurate and timely electronic clinical records by computer preferred
Modes of Work preferred
