Charge Description Master Coordinator

Certifications
Software application certifications related to data mining, database management, or interface support preferred
CPC - Certified Professional Coder (AAPC) or preferred
CPC-H - Certified Professional Coder - Hospital (AAPC) as CPC Medical Coding Certification preferred
Education
✓High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)
Qualifications
✓4 years APC experience in the CDM/auditing arena required
✓3 years experience managing financial data in a large multidisciplinary healthcare system
✓4 years experience in hospital coding, charging and extensive knowledge of Federal regulations
✓Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
✓Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
✓Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
✓Extensive computer work is required in support of the system updates performed in the revenue cycle and each revenue generating department.
✓Must have the ability to effectively leverage technology to manage and analyze data from multiple data sources.
✓Highly proficient in mainframe systems, networking knowledge, financial software, (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) as well as word processing software (Word), MS Office Outlook.
✓Ability to complete and communicate basic financial and statistical analyses.
✓Detail oriented, self-motivator, ability to analyze data.
2 years clinical experience preferred
Training experience is preferred
4 years of healthcare accounts receivable management experience preferred
Epic Healthcare system experience preferred

About the role

It is to maintain the Charge Description Master (CDM), conduct department training and education for all charges for services. Responsible for new and updated requests to Departments and rooms and beds for all Houston Methodist. Communicating appropriate rules and practices of local and Federal Agencies and how they affect the charging and CDM processes.
