The Clinical Applications Analyst II – Behavioral Health plays a critical role in supporting the technology and clinical workflows used throughout Nexus Health Systems’ behavioral health and neurobehavioral programs. Under the general direction of the Clinical Applications Manager, this position applies electronic health record industry standards and clinical best practices to configure, maintain, test, and optimize MEDITECH clinical applications.
The Analyst owns the build and configuration of assigned behavioral health modules, independently manages issues of moderate complexity, and serves as a key connection between clinical operations and information technology. This position works closely with behavioral health clinicians, nursing teams, facility leaders, pharmacy and ancillary analysts, and corporate departments to ensure electronic workflows support safe, efficient, compliant, and patient-centered care.
The ideal candidate combines healthcare technology experience with a strong understanding of behavioral health documentation, clinical operations, and end-user workflows. Essential Responsibilities Clinical Application Configuration and Support Serve as the primary resource for enhancements, edits, modifications, configuration, and troubleshooting within assigned behavioral health clinical modules. Provide functional and help desk support for application-related questions and issues submitted by Nexus facilities.
Independently manage assigned module build, configuration, testing, maintenance, and optimization activities. Investigate application issues, identify root causes, coordinate appropriate solutions, and drive issues through resolution. Maintain clinical dictionaries and other application content associated with assigned modules.
Monitor assigned applications to confirm proper utilization, system performance, and workflow efficiency. Communicate findings to leadership and recommend actions to address identified risks, inefficiencies, or improvement opportunities. Participate in the departmental on-call rotation.
Behavioral Health Documentation and Workflows Configure and maintain behavioral health clinical documentation that supports evidence-based practices and applicable regulatory requirements. Develop and maintain electronic documentation for psychiatric assessments, individualized treatment plans, group and individual therapy, observation levels, patient precautions, and other behavioral health services. Configure and maintain documentation related to restraint and seclusion, including required assessments, monitoring, orders, and regulatory elements.
Support patient care workflows used within inpatient psychiatric, neurobehavioral, and residential treatment programs. Ensure electronic workflows accurately reflect clinical practice while supporting efficiency, data integrity, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with clinical leaders and end users to evaluate current workflows and identify opportunities for standardization or improvement.
Order Management and Clinical Integration Configure and maintain order entry and order management content supporting psychiatric and medical care. Develop and maintain behavioral health order sets, patient care workflows, and related clinical content. Coordinate with pharmacy and ancillary application analysts to support medication administration, laboratory, imaging, and therapeutic-service workflows.
Assist with the build, testing, validation, and maintenance of interfaces connected to assigned clinical modules. Ensure workflows function appropriately across integrated applications and departments. EMR, E-Chart, and Patient Portal Support the MEDITECH electronic medical record, E-Chart, and Patient Portal for behavioral health and neurobehavioral populations.
Ensure clinical content, chart configuration, and patient-facing functionality remain accurate, current, and appropriate for the populations served. Configure behavioral health records with appropriate privacy and confidentiality protections. Support compliance with HIPAA and, when applicable, 42 CFR Part 2 requirements governing the confidentiality of behavioral health and substance-use-related information.
Partner with clinical, compliance, legal, and health information management stakeholders when evaluating access, disclosure, or confidentiality requirements. Regulatory and Compliance Support Ensure electronic documentation and clinical workflows support applicable behavioral health regulatory and accreditation requirements. Incorporate relevant requirements from CMS Conditions of Participation and The Joint Commission behavioral health standards into system configuration.
Maintain corporate patient-safety initiatives and applicable government regulations within electronic processes. Assist clinical and operational leaders with system changes related to regulatory updates, corrective action plans, and compliance initiatives. Apply industry standards and best practices to help maintain accurate, consistent, and defensible clinical documentation.
System Maintenance, Testing, and Upgrades Provide clinical and functional expertise during EHR maintenance, enhancement, and optimization activities. Participate in requirements gathering, workflow definition, design validation, configuration, testing, and implementation. Review and test application updates, priority packs, patches, and version enhancements affecting assigned modules.
Evaluate the potential operational and clinical impact of system changes before deployment. Develop test scenarios, document results, identify defects, and coordinate issue resolution. Communicate system changes and provide education to affected stakeholders before implementation.
Follow established system development lifecycle and change-management processes. End-User Education and Partnership Provide ongoing education and support to clinical, behavioral health, and operational end users. Develop training materials, workflow guides, and other resources that support effective application use.
Evaluate end-user understanding and competency related to assigned system functionality. Assist departments with integrating application functionality into daily clinical workflows. Serve as a liaison between Nexus facilities, corporate departments, clinical users, and information technology.
Translate clinical and operational needs into clear system and configuration requirements. Communicate technical information in a practical, understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders. Documentation and Project Support Elicit requirements from business users, clinical teams, and organizational stakeholders.
Translate workflow discussions and design sessions into clear configuration requirements. Produce project artifacts, including status reports, business requirements, workflow documentation, test plans, and non-technical design documents. Maintain accurate documentation of configuration decisions, system changes, known issues, and resolution activities.
Identify, document, and track risks, issues, action items, and dependencies through completion. Perform other duties as assigned. Systems and Applications Working knowledge of MEDITECH clinical applications is preferred, with particular emphasis on the following modules as used within behavioral health settings: PCS: Patient Care System and nursing documentation OE/OM: Order Entry and Order Management PCM/PWM: Patient Care Management and Patient Workflow Management EMR with E-Chart Patient Portal Experience with the following additional MEDITECH modules is also beneficial: ADM: Admissions and Registration ARM: Authorization and Referral Management ITS: Imaging and Therapeutic Services LAB: Laboratory MIS: Management Information System MRI: Medical Records and Health Information Management SCA: Scanning and Archiving Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or another healthcare-related clinical discipline required.
Experience Two to three years of relevant healthcare information technology experience with demonstrated ownership of assigned clinical applications or modules. MEDITECH implementation, configuration, maintenance, or optimization experience strongly preferred. Behavioral health clinical operations experience within inpatient psychiatric, neurobehavioral, or residential treatment settings strongly preferred.
Familiarity with behavioral health documentation and regulatory requirements, including treatment planning, observation levels, restraint and seclusion documentation, and The Joint Commission behavioral health standards, preferred. Clinical healthcare operations and technology experience preferred. Experience evaluating end-user competency and integrating application functionality into clinical workflows.
Working knowledge of system development lifecycle processes. Experience investigating, managing, and resolving application support issues. Experience gathering requirements from clinical users, operational leaders, and other stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to translate workflow and design discussions into system configuration requirements. Experience developing project documentation, including status reports, business requirements, workflow documents, and non-technical design materials. Moderate SQL knowledge or experience desired.
Licensure and Certification No professional license or certification is required. Current clinical licensure, such as RN, LVN, LPC, or LMSW, is a plus. Must successfully complete an annual criminal background check.

Knowledge of behavioral health and neurobehavioral documentation practices strongly preferred. Ability to independently configure, test, maintain, and support assigned clinical applications.
