Under the guidance of the Market Education Director, the Nursing Educator collaborates with facility/market nursing leadership and staff across departments to assess, plan, develop, implement, facilitate, evaluate and revise educational programming for all levels of nursing personnel and non-nursing personnel as indicated or requested. The educator acts as a key resource in the orientation and continuing education of nursing staff at Tenet Healthcare.
The Nursing Educator implements a comprehensive education program for his/her assigned units while following and contributing to Tenet educational goals and vision. Educational programs typically include, but are not limited to orientation, continuing education and in-services. Other services may include, but are not limited to process, performance and service-delivery consultation and contributions to the organization through councils, committees and workgroups.
Responsibilities Develops and implements nursing education programs to support orientation, ongoing competency validation, and professional development for nursing staff in assigned units and clinics. Assesses and supports the educational needs of clinical staff through classroom instruction, clinical training experiences, and learning technologies. Ensures compliance with nursing, organizational, and regulatory standards by maintaining and revising educational programs, curricula, and course content as needed.
Provides leadership, coaching, mentoring, and support to preceptors, nurse residents, nursing staff, students, and colleagues to promote professional growth and clinical excellence. Coordinates and delivers continuing education and specialty training programs, including in-services, continuing education offerings, Grand Rounds, and job-specific curricula. Participates in quality improvement and clinical practice initiatives, including evaluating educational outcomes, supporting policy and procedure development, and promoting evidence-based practice.
Performs other duties as assigned/required. Required:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, nursing education, or related specialty Licensure/Certification: Current state licenses and certifications (ACLS, PALS and TNCC). Preferred:
3 years of nursing experience in an acute care ED setting
