A Typical Day: Assisting physicians and nursing staff directly during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Reviewing planned cases in advance, anticipating equipment and instrumentation needs, and ensuring rooms are fully prepared for efficient workflows.
Overseeing the specialized care, precise handling, and proper maintenance of complex endoscopy equipment and high-tech scopes. Verifying physician orders, confirming correct patient identification using two distinct identifiers, and safely instructing patients on the upcoming procedure. Proactively identifying and reporting safety issues, including hazardous environments, equipment errors, or technical defects.
Complying strictly with healthcare infection control protocols, departmental safety initiatives, and medical terminology documentation standards. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required. Previous Clinical Care Technician (CCT) experience required. SGNA GI Technical Specialist Certification preferred.
Broad knowledge of medical terminology and general anatomy. Weekday night and weekend on-call coverage rotations required.
