About the role

The Clinical Technologist is responsible for all activities with blood and blood components including, but not limited to, logging-in the units, thawing plasma, thawing and pooling cryoprecipitate, irradiate products and washing RBCs; setting up patient or blood product samples for testing by a technologist/automated machine; maintenance of lab equipment.

Calculating and preparing bloodCalculating and preparing blood for exchange transfusion
Ensuring blood inventory controlEnsuring blood inventory control is maintained at acceptable levels
Recording all quality controlRecording all quality control and quality assurance activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed
Ensuring all blood componentsEnsuring all blood components intended for transfusion are in accordance with cGMP as required by NYSDOH, FDA, AABB, CAP and NYBC
