About the role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) practices as an expert in the application of the nursing process and theory within a specialty area. The primary responsibility of the Clinical Nurse Specialist is to advance patient care directly in the role of expert clinical practitioner and indirectly in the roles of educator, consultant, researcher, change agent, collaborator, clinical leader, role model, and patient advocate.
