The Cardiovascular Perfusionist conducts extracorporeal circulation and ensures the safe management of physiologic functions during any medical procedure in which it is necessary to artificially support or temporarily replace a patient's circulatory or respiratory functions, such as in open heart surgery or other heart procedures. Support the Cardiovascular team during medical procedures by Selecting appropriate equipment and techniques to be used during procedures, in consultation with the physicianAdministering blood products, medications and controlling the temperature of patients during surgery.
