Mercy is seeking a Part-Time Clinical Pharmacist Floater to support patient care across Mercy Hospital Aurora and Mercy Hospital Cassville.

This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on patient outcomes while working alongside physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will serve as a medication expert and essential member of the healthcare team by:Clinical PracticeReview and evaluate medication orders for appropriateness, safety, and effectivenessMonitor and optimize drug therapy through patient chart reviews and interdisciplinary collaborationDevelop individualized medication plans that minimize risks and maximize therapeutic outcomesAssess patient conditions to ensure medication-related needs are appropriately addressedIdentify and resolve drug interactions, contraindications, dosing concerns, and adverse effectsProvide medication therapy recommendations to prescribers and healthcare teamsConsult with physicians, nurses, and patients regarding medication use, administration, and monitoringEvaluate treatment outcomes and adjust recommendations as appropriatePatient Care & CollaborationPartner with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure exceptional patient careServe as a trusted drug information resource for clinical staff and patientsSupport care management initiatives and formulary complianceParticipate in investigational protocols and quality improvement activities when neededEducation & LeadershipPrecept pharmacy students and participate in educational initiativesPresent in-services and continuing education programs for healthcare staffAssist with department competencies and staff developmentMaintain current clinical knowledge and professional licensure requirementsServe as a clinical resource in specialized patient care areas as appropriateQuality & ComplianceParticipate in medication-use evaluations, adverse drug reaction reporting, and quality assurance initiativesMaintain accurate clinical documentation and patient recordsComply with regulatory, accreditation, licensing, and hospital standardsComplete required medication storage, expiration date, and floor stock inspectionsParticipate in departmental projects, policy reviews, and committee assignmentsTechnology & SystemsUtilize Epic and pharmacy information systems for order verification and clinical documentationAccess clinical resources such as Micromedex for medication decision supportWork with pharmacy automation technologies including Omnicell, McKesson, ScriptPro, and other related systemsWhat We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsBachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited School of PharmacyCurrent pharmacist license in the state of practiceStrong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced hospital environmentExcellent communication, collaboration, and customer service skillsPreferred QualificationsTwo or more years of clinical pharmacy experiencePGY-1 Pharmacy ResidencyExperience in an acute care hospital settingKnowledge of clinical documentation systems and pharmacy automation technologyThe Mercy DifferenceWe are committed to providing compassionate care while fostering a culture of professionalism, teamwork, respect, and service excellence.
