The Psychosocial Research Program at Butler Hospital is looking to hire one full-time research assistant to work on a project related to implementing a suicide intervention in a psychiatric emergency department setting. There may also be opportunities available to work on additional projects in our lab focused on implementation of a tablet-based suicide prevention in a crisis stabilization setting, and identification of novel risk factors for suicide using laboratory-based behavioral and physiological assessments, smartphone technology, and smartwatches.

D., and Gemma Wallace, Ph. D. Butler Hospital is the major affiliated teaching hospital for psychiatry and behavioral health of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, located in Providence, RI.
Butler Hospital is one of the earliest psychiatric facilities established in the United States. The Psychosocial Research Program at Butler is one of several active research groups at the hospital. Dr.
Ivan Miller is the director, and the program is comprised of academic psychologists, postdoctoral fellows, research assistants, master’s-level interventionists, and project coordinators. Research in this group is currently funded by numerous federal and foundation grants, and most of this work centers on suicide prevention, post-hospital transitions, technology-assisted assessment and intervention, mood and psychotic disorders, and comorbid conditions conducted in a variety of clinical settings.

Brown Medical School researchers working at Butler Hospital are seeking research assistants for studies funded by the National Institutes of Health and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention relating to suicide risk assessment, prediction, and intervention in psychiatric inpatient and partial hospital settings. Responsible for recruiting study participants and conducting research assessments with psychiatric patients.
Work requires proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience using SPSS, R, Qualtrics, and REDCap is a plus. Required Education BA in psychology or related field required.

Collects data by review of medical records, interviews, or other means. 2. Performs coding, entry, and verification of data collected into both paper and electronic databases. 3. As appropriate to the specified position, recruits subjects into research studies and conducts follow up interviews per study protocol. 4.
Assists in the processing and storage of biological specimens as needed, under supervision. 5. Observes all relevant risk management and infection control policies and procedures and any applicable quality improvement activities. 6. Collects and reviews scientific articles.
Enters references into a database. 7. Prepares drafts of written documents relating to study procedures. 8. Performs general office duties including typing, photocopying, inventory, and ordering. 9.
Performs other related duties as assigned. 10. Assists in preparation of IRB submissions. 11. Works evening hours and/or weekend hours as required in support of specified studies. 12.
