Responsible for coding designated medical records as assigned by coding supervisor. Maintains quality control for all records processed. Codes all records according to ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and CPT Coding Guidelines.
Abstracts according to UHDDS guidelines. Follows instructions published by “Coding Clinic” and “CPT Assistant.” Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent. ICD-10-CM coding school and/or attendance at basic ICD-10-CM/CPT seminar required in lieu of experience. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred.
Previous experience in medical record department preferred. Physician office experience will be considered in a motivated individual. Certificate/License : RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC ,or CCA required.
If candidate does not possess any of the aforementioned credentials he or she will be given a year to acquire one of the credentials.
