The Concentration Coordinator - Sonography reports to the Program Director and must be designated and responsible for the coordination of concentration(s) for which the Program Director does not possess the appropriate credential. The Concentration Coordinator is a designated faculty member responsible for the oversight, coordination, and quality assurance of an assigned sonography concentration. The Concentration Coordinator ensures that concentration-specific curriculum (abdomen and OBGYN), clinical education, student progression, and program outcomes align with accreditation standards, institutional policies, and professional practice requirements.
The Concentration Coordinator provides leadership in the areas of instruction, student guidance, assessment, and continuous program improvement. This role serves as a subject matter expert for the assigned concentration and collaborates with faculty, clinical affiliates, and program leadership to support student success and maintain educational excellence. Department Summary The Foundational Education and Health Professions (FEHP) department at Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences provides innovative, student-centered instruction to prepare future healthcare professionals.
The department's primary focus is to deliver excellence in classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction, complemented by robust academic advising and professional mentorship for students. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred. Possess the appropriate credential(s) specific to the concentration(s) that they are designated to coordinate (Abdomen and OBGYN at minimum for this job posting) Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques Possess a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
Skills Familiar with available clinical and field agencies Demonstrate strong organization, prioritization, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills Proficient with health science specific program accreditation agencies related to the appropriate discipline and site(s) Comfortable speaking to large groups and presenting Detail oriented Communicate effectively Adaptability to changing work environment or needs Responsibilities & Expectations Curriculum Oversight: Developing, updating, and evaluating course materials, assessments, and educational content for the specific specialty (e.g., Adult Echocardiography, Vascular, ABD-EXT. and /or OB/GYN).
Teaching workload is expected in conjunction with clinical site visits. Clinical Integration: Coordinating with the program's Clinical Coordinator to align classroom teaching with hands-on clinical rotations. They may dual serve as the Clinical Coordinator for tracks where the main Program Director does not hold the matching specialty credential.
Student Guidance: Mentoring, advising, and counseling students while tracking their academic progression and competency outcomes. Program Evaluation: Collecting and analyzing track-specific data, including student retention rates, employer surveys, and national credentialing examination pass rates. Accreditation Support: Assisting the Program Director with self-studies, program assessments, and documentation required for ongoing CAAHEP compliance reviews.
