Responsibilities JOB

The Physical Therapist is responsible for assessing the needs of patients and establishing treatment goals in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Lakeside Behavioral Health. The physical therapist provides treatment, documents, and integrates their findings as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team approach. . The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including adults and dually diagnosed patients.

Master’s degree in Physical Therapy required.

Experience working with a mental health population highly preferred. Licensure/Certification: Physical Therapist license required. Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of group leadership skills, age specific growth and development, crisis and behavior management.

Supervision Received: Medical Director –Internal Medicine Supervision Exercised: N/A Environmental Conditions: Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment and tools and equipment necessary to perform recreational therapy.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen.
