Part-time weekdays with very occasional Saturdays and evenings for events. Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direction of the Trauma Program Director, the Injury Prevention Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of trauma educational programs/projects for staff and the community across the continuum of trauma care. The injury prevention coordinator provides injury prevention programs that are consistent with the community needs, the Portsmouth Regional Hospital (PRH) Trauma Performance Improvement Plan, and professional organizational standards.

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS &

General

Injury Prevention · Coordinates trauma injury prevention events targeting the public and professional community. · Participates in the community in efforts to disseminate awareness of injury prevention, PRH Trauma Program and trauma systems. Efforts will also include a) Public awareness/educational programs b) Visitation programs c) Web site d) Newsletters · Participates in local, regional, State and National trauma events consistent with the requirements of a Level II trauma hospital. · Coordinates, implements, maintains, and evaluates injury prevention programs and participates in injury prevention activities for the Trauma Program at PRH based on Trauma Registry statistical data, trauma system data from State of NH, the National Trauma Data Bank, CDC, and other data sources and the needs of the community. · Provides technical assistance and support in training staff and community leaders to lead educational injury prevention programs within PRH and the community. · Develops and maintains community partnerships to meet the educational needs of groups at risk for injury. · Reports to the Trauma Department on injury prevention activities. · Maintains accurate records of all injury prevention activities, attendance, and effectiveness. · Remains knowledgeable on injury prevention legislation activities (locally, regionally, and nationally) · Collaborates with public affairs and marketing on injury prevention materials to be distributed within the community. · Develops evaluation tools and tracks program data for assessing progress in the community. · Participates in multidisciplinary Injury Prevention research as appropriate · Monitors (initially and periodically) all PRH and affiliated representatives participating in PRH injury prevention activities and provides coaching/education as needed. · Participates in local, regional, state and national injury prevention activities such as conferences, seminars and professional organization special interest groups. · Identifies sources for funding of injury prevention related projects; including project proposals and grant applications.

Follows all applicable hospital policies and procedures. · Participates in the facility Quality Improvement Program. · Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care. General: · Work collaboratively and productively with the Trauma Program Director, Trauma Medical Director, ED Medical Director and the ED nursing director. · Work collaboratively and productively with physicians, nurses other providers and staff, patients, and families affiliated with or participating in the Trauma Program. · Must have excellent interpersonal skills as well as the ability to maintain flexibility and work in a constantly changing environment. · Be available on weekends for scheduled education programs as needed. · Prepare and present reports regarding the trauma program as needed. · Duties as assigned by the Trauma Program Director or Trauma Medical Director related to the trauma program.
