Day Working Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Baptist Health is seeking a Corporate Compliance Officer (CCO) to lead our system-wide Corporate Compliance Program. Key
Program Leadership & Strategy Ensure that Baptist Health operates in strict accordance with state and federal healthcare regulations. Direct and expand the system-wide Corporate Compliance Program, including the annual Compliance Work Plan, Code of Conduct, and internal policy architecture. Provide regular reports directly to the Board of Trustees (Compliance-Audit Committee) and the CEO regarding the system’s compliance program.
Chair the Corporate Compliance Committee, fostering a culture where compliance is viewed as a strategic partner rather than an operational hurdle. Regulatory Oversight & Risk Mitigation Serve as the subject matter expert on healthcare fraud and abuse laws, specifically the Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS), False Claims Act (FCA), and EMTALA. Oversee the Privacy Office, ensuring robust HIPAA/HITECH compliance, managing the Privacy Officer and staff, and directing the response to any data breaches or OCR inquiries.
Monitor and audit Fair Market Value (FMV) and commercial reasonableness documentation for physician compensation and real estate transactions. Investigations, Auditing, & Enforcement Manage the corporate compliance hotline and direct all internal investigations concerning reported compliance, privacy, or ethical violations. Design and execute routine and focused auditing/monitoring activities across all clinical service lines and billing departments (Revenue Cycle).
Coordinate with the Legal Department to manage responses to external audits, government subpoenas, or investigations (e.g., OIG, DOJ, CMS). Qualifications &
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree (MHA, MBA, or similar) or Juris Doctor (JD) is highly preferred. Certification: Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) through the HCCA is required.
CHPC (Privacy) or CCEP (Compliance & Ethics) is a preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare compliance, regulatory affairs, or healthcare law within a complex hospital or health system. Demonstrated mastery of Stark Law, AKS, Medicare/Medicaid billing regulations, and HIPAA. Proven track record of successfully interacting with federal and state regulatory agencies (OIG, CMS, OCR).
The ability to translate complex regulatory frameworks into actionable, operational processes for clinical staff. This job will be authorized 80.00 hours bi-weekly.
