Corporate Director of Facilities Nexus Health Systems
Nexus Health Systems is seeking an experienced and strategic Corporate Director of Facilities to oversee the physical environment, facility infrastructure, safety programs, regulatory compliance, and capital planning across all Nexus Health Systems facilities. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring that all hospitals maintain safe, compliant, and efficiently operated facilities while meeting regulatory requirements and Nexus operational standards.
Serving as the corporate subject matter expert for Facilities Management, Environment of Care (EOC), Life Safety, Emergency Preparedness, and Safety Programs, this position provides direct oversight, guidance, auditing, and support to facility leadership and executive teams across the organization. The Corporate Director of Facilities serves as the organization's Safety Officer and leads initiatives that ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff while supporting the long-term operational and capital needs of all Nexus facilities.

and Responsibilities Facilities Management & Operations Provide corporate oversight of facilities management programs across all Nexus facilities. Ensure all hospitals maintain safe, efficient, and compliant physical plants, grounds, utility systems, and building infrastructure. Demonstrate extensive knowledge of healthcare facility operations, building systems, life safety requirements, and applicable building codes.
Oversee preventive maintenance programs for buildings, grounds, utility systems, and equipment. Maintain oversight of inventories and maintenance records for hospital-owned equipment. Monitor facility conditions and ensure timely repair or replacement of equipment, systems, and infrastructure.
Review maintenance documentation and ensure consistency across facilities. Ensure facilities remain in good repair and provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Provide guidance and support regarding HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and general building maintenance operations.
Environment of Care & Regulatory Compliance Serve as the corporate leader for Environment of Care (EOC), Life Safety, and Emergency Management programs. Ensure all facilities meet Nexus standards for EOC, Life Safety, Emergency Preparedness, and facility operations. Maintain compliance with all applicable Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, NFPA, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular facility audits and assessments, reporting findings, corrective actions, and compliance status to executive leadership. Monitor compliance trends and implement system-wide improvements. Support facilities during accreditation surveys, regulatory inspections, and licensing reviews.
Safety Program Leadership Serve as the Corporate Safety Officer for Nexus Health Systems. Lead and oversee facility Safety Committees across all Nexus locations. Ensure safety concerns are identified, addressed, documented, and resolved appropriately.
Conduct periodic safety rounds and environmental risk assessments. Investigate and follow up on reported safety hazards and environmental concerns. Develop and deliver safety education and training programs for facility staff.
Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement throughout the organization. Capital Planning & Construction Oversight Develop and maintain one-year, three-year, and five-year capital improvement plans for all facilities. Oversee major capital projects, renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and facility improvement initiatives.
Evaluate facility needs and provide recommendations regarding capital expenditures and long-range planning. Coordinate project planning, budgeting, execution, and completion. Monitor project timelines and ensure work is completed according to organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
Vendor & Contractor Management Source, evaluate, and vet vendors and contractors for maintenance, repairs, renovations, and capital projects. Review bids, proposals, and contracts for facility-related services. Ensure contractor performance meets Nexus quality, safety, and compliance standards.
Develop strong vendor partnerships that support operational excellence and cost-effective solutions. Leadership & Operational Support Partner with Facility CEOs and leadership teams regarding facility operations, infrastructure needs, and compliance initiatives. Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of facility-level Facilities personnel.
Provide mentorship and guidance to facility maintenance and engineering leaders across the organization. Establish best practices and standard operating procedures for facilities management functions. Ensure appropriate emergency coverage and on-call support across all facilities.
Serve as the corporate lead during SETRAC activations, emergency management events, disaster response situations, and business continuity efforts. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Technical training, trade certifications, or advanced education in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred. Experience Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, building maintenance, construction, or healthcare plant operations required. Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience overseeing multiple facilities or healthcare environments preferred.
Experience within hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, behavioral health facilities, long-term care facilities, or other healthcare settings strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience managing capital projects, regulatory compliance initiatives, and vendor relationships. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare facility operations, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and infrastructure management.
Strong understanding of Environment of Care, Life Safety, Emergency Management, and healthcare regulatory requirements. Working knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, NFPA, and applicable state regulations. Strong project management, organizational, and budgeting skills.
Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities across geographically dispersed facilities. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to travel regularly between Nexus Health Systems facilities.
