Certifications
✓Must obtain a CPD certification from HSPA or CBSPD within one year of hire and maintain for employment.
✓Must obtain certification within one year of hire and maintained for employment.
Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) preferred.
Education
✓High School diploma or GED required .
Qualifications
✓1- 2 years of related work experience required .
✓Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications
✓Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment.
✓Decision Making: Ability to make decisions that are guided by general instructions and practices requiring some interpretation. May make recommendations for solving problems of moderate complexity and importance.
✓Problem Solving: Ability to address problems that are varied, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation using direct observation, knowledge and skills based on general precedents.
✓Independence of Action: Ability to follow precedents and procedures. May set priorities and organize work within general guidelines. Seeks assistance when confronted with difficult and/or unpredictable situations. Work progress is monitored by supervisor/manager.

About the role

Reporting to the supervisor of the Central Processing Department (CPD), the Sterile Processing Technician 2 is responsible for performing a variety of functions from decontamination, to cleaning, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of various instruments and equipment according to the Manufacturers Instructions for Use (IFU) and or Hospital policy.
