The Crisis Intervention Clinician provides timely behavioral health assessments and support to patients in the Emergency Department and Psychiatry settings. This role evaluates patients presenting with mental health crises, collaborates closely with medical providers to determine appropriate disposition and treatment, and serves as a resource for patients, families, and the community. In inpatient behavioral health settings, the clinician also provides individual, group, and family counseling as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
Key Responsibilities Conduct behavioral health assessments for patients presenting with crisis or urgent psychiatric needs Use standardized screening tools and clinical judgment to assess risk and determine appropriate level of care Communicate assessment findings, clinical recommendations, and disposition plans to psychiatric and ED providers Complete psychosocial evaluations, progress notes, and treatment documentation in compliance with regulatory standards Participate in treatment planning and provide individual, group, and family counseling as appropriate Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support patient care and safe discharge planning Maintain current training in crisis intervention, high-risk patient assessment, and behavioral health best practices Contribute to quality improvement, program development, and community relations efforts Qualifications Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Nursing, or a related field Current DC
LICSW, LGSW, LPC, or LGPC Experience in behavioral health crisis assessment, treatment planning, and counseling preferred Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills Experience working in a computerized clinical environment preferred Key Strengths for Success Expertise in psychiatric crisis intervention and patient triage Ability to work effectively with diverse patients, families, and healthcare teams Professional, compassionate, and solution-oriented approach Strong clinical writing and verbal communication skills Salary Range: Minimum 40.35/hour - Maximum 66.54/hour.
Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority. The Hospital reserves the right to modify employee schedules as needed.
