Licensure
✓Possession of valid California CRT license, Fluoroscopy Certification
✓Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) requires the following criteria for Licensure/Certification as a requirement to operate a CT scanner:
✓September 1, 2016 - a technologist must possess both an ARRT (RT) and CRT license.
✓January 1, 2018 – a technologist in addition to both ARRT (RT) and CRT licensure must be certified as a Computerized Tomography Technologist (CT) by the ARRT.
Certifications
✓Current BLS through AHA
✓ARRT required
✓Specialized training in CT
Education
✓Completion of an ACR or ARRT recognized accredited program in Radiology Technology/Graduate of a JCERT hospital-based radiology technology program is required; Associate’s degree in Radiology Technology is desired.
Qualifications
✓The education and experience that provides the required knowledge to operate as a Computerized Tomography (CT) Technologist is as listed:
✓A minimum of one year of experience in performing technical work which must have included as primary responsibility: radiographic examinations, and following: computerized tomography (CT).
✓Hospital established policies quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures.
✓The more common radiology equipment and instruments used in a hospital setting, basic radiography and Computerized Tomography (CT).
✓Anatomy and Physiology.
✓Processing and evaluating quality images.
✓Operate equipment used in Radiology, and Computerized Tomography (CT).
✓Understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
✓Learn quickly the specific operations of a Radiology Department.
✓Keep abreast of developments in the field of expertise.
✓Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
✓Prepare and maintain records and reports. (Written and electronic).
