The Dental Assistant will provide chairside support to dental providers, prepare and sterilize instruments, assist with patient care, maintain accurate records, and help ensure efficient clinic operations. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, experience with dental supply and inventory management, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment. Perform routine tasks assisting the professional dental staff and students in the examination and prophylactic, therapeutic and surgical treatment of patients. Works under direct supervision. Position Key Accountabilities: Assists in the teaching of dental students, dental assisting students, and dental hygiene students in the principles of four-handed dentistry and dental assistant utilization (DAU).
Provides chair side assistance to students and faculty. Maintains sterile, and prepares equipment, instruments, and supplies within working area. Maintains infection control standards.
Maintains records of patients seen, procedures performed, materials used, and appointments. Must be able to respond to emergency situations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills: Basic office or computer skills. Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning. Dental Assistant by Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) required Minimum
High School Diploma or equivalent required Completion of a recognized dental assistant educational program preferred Minimum
