✓Requirements
Licensure
✓Registered Dietitian (RD) at time of hire or within 6 months of hire
Education
✓Evaluates own performance, and plans and implements a program of self-development based on identified needs, interests and/or limitations
✓Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university
✓Successful completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice experience, approved or accredited by Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
✓Registered Dietitian (RD) or eligible to sit for the RD registration examination and passes exam within 6 months of completing ACEND-accredited supervised practice program.
Master’s degree preferred
Qualifications
✓Collects and evaluates data that are relevant to nutrition problems and references appropriate comparative standards.
✓Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of nutrition in relation to other forms of care being provided; nutrition care is integrated with medical goals and plan of care.
✓Clear, accurate, timely and concise documentation utilizes the Nutrition Care Process and follows policies and regulatory requirements.
✓Advocates for patient's nutrition care
✓Takes initiative and responsibility for assigning and supervising of DTR’s daily work.
✓Demonstrates critical thinking in all areas of providing nutrition care.
✓Intra- and Interdisciplinary Activities
✓Active and productive participation in team meetings, rounds and other activities related to patient care.
✓Dietetic Internship Education
✓Evaluates intern performance, and works with Internship Coordinator/Director to address areas of intern performance that need improvement
✓Teaches intern classes as assigned.
✓Adapts teaching method/style to intern needs and skill levels.
✓Advances competence as practitioner
✓Evaluates information learned and applies to work environment, as appropriate
✓Maintains up-to-date professional development portfolio (PDP)
✓A majority of the clinical training must have taken place in a large teaching hospital.
✓An RD-eligible employee works under the direct supervision of an RD.
✓Excellent written and verbal communication skills; to understand and be understood in English
Majority of work experience in a large teaching hospital preferred
Fluency in second language preferred
