• Days DIRECTOR, AMBULATORY REVENUE CYCLE OPERATIONS | Remote Reports to : System Chief Operating Officer, Medical Group (Dotted Line to System Chief Revenue Officer) # of Direct Reports : 10 Work from Home/Remote Primary Function/General Purpose of Position The Director of Ambulatory Revenue Cycle Operations will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership of revenue cycle functions across medical group, urgent care, and occupational health service lines within BSMH. Oversees front-end revenue cycle performance, including patient access, registration, charge capture, denial prevention, and regulatory compliance. Partners closely with market and system clinical, operational, finance, and information technology leaders to optimize revenue integrity, improve financial performance, enhance patient financial experience, and ensure consistent application of policies, processes, and best practices across multiple ambulatory care settings. Partners with Revenue Cycle leadership to work with Ensemble and other key partners and vendors in the delivery of midcycle and back-end revenue cycle performance. Utilizes data analytics and key performance indicators to drive operational excellence, achieve productivity and cash collection goals, reduce denials, maintain compliance with payer and government regulations, and support organizational growth initiatives while leading high-performing teams and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The individual will work in a matrix environment with accountability to Medical Group and Revenue Cycle leadership. Essential Job Functions ​ Provide strategic and operational leadership for revenue cycle functions across Medical Group, Urgent Care, and Occupational Health service lines, ensuring alignment with organizational financial, operational, and patient experience objectives. Driving system standardization across all markets, performance management and enhanced accountability with stakeholders. Partner closely with market leaders, practice administrators, clinicians and frontline associates to standardize and optimize scheduling, registration, insurance verification, authorization, and patient financial engagement processes across multiple markets. Lead initiatives to improve front-end revenue cycle performance by enhancing registration accuracy, reducing eligibility and demographic errors, and ensuring complete and compliant patient data capture at the point of service. Drive digital transformation efforts by expanding patient self-service capabilities, including online scheduling, digital registration, automated eligibility verification, patient portals, mobile check-in, and electronic payment solutions to improve efficiency and patient convenience. Develop and implement strategies to increase patient financial responsibility collections through improved price transparency, point-of-service collection processes, payment plan adoption, and patient education regarding financial obligations. Collaborate with operational and revenue cycle teams to identify root causes of claim denials and registration-related rework, implementing corrective action plans that reduce denials, improve clean claim rates, and accelerate cash collections. Utilize performance metrics, dashboards, and data analytics to monitor key indicators including registration quality, scheduling effectiveness, denial trends, patient collections, productivity, and overall revenue cycle performance, driving accountability across markets. Establish and maintain comprehensive onboarding, orientation, training, and continuing education programs for scheduling, registration, and patient access staff to ensure competency, consistency, regulatory compliance, and adoption of best practices. Conduct ongoing evaluation and coaching of frontline associates and leaders, identifying performance gaps and implementing targeted development plans to improve service quality, operational effectiveness, and revenue cycle outcomes. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by leading cross-functional initiatives, promoting process standardization, leveraging technology and automation, and ensuring frontline teams are equipped to deliver exceptional patient experiences while maximizing revenue integrity and financial performance. Leads market-based revenue cycle subject matter experts to deliver on job functions previously listed with the intent of having market-based resources to support frontline associates and market leaders. Maintain a strong working relationship with Epic, Ensemble, and other key partners. Education Bachelors Degree in Business (required) Masters Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration (preferred) Work Experience 7+ years of progressive healthcare revenue cycle experience, including ambulatory/professional billing operations, with at least 5 years in leadership roles (required) Multi-site or multi-market ambulatory revenue cycle leadership experience; Epic and vendor-partner oversight experience; physician enterprise or medical group experience. (preferred) Training Epic familiarity preferred Skills Strong computer technology skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft suite of tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior grammar and proofreading skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization. Demonstrate a professional and adaptable demeanor with internal and external clients, including administrators, physicians, peers, and support staff.
