Director, Imaging Services – Ambulatory

The Ambulatory Imaging Services Director provides administrative oversight for the Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Service Line, working in partnership with modality leaders and health system business unit leaders. The Director serves as a primary point of contact for the ambulatory imaging leadership team and is responsible for ensuring that established service-level standards are met. In collaboration with Radiology leadership, the Director supports and executes strategic initiatives under the overall direction of the health system executive team.

The role reports directly to the Executive Director, Ambulatory Imaging and works cross-functionally to align and advance health system, service line, and business unit standards and goals. The Director designs and oversees administrative operations across multiple clinical professional services and is accountable for the overall administrative planning and coordination of human, fiscal, and material resources. This includes establishing operational objectives and action plans and supporting the development and implementation of new policies and programs.

The Director also provides oversight of regulatory compliance, quality, and safety initiatives and reviews recommendations for new programs. The Director leads a team of four Site Managers as direct reports and indirectly oversees 15 Supervisors across the ambulatory imaging operation. The UCSF Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services (including diagnostic and body/neuro interventional radiology).

These services are offered at 15 sites throughout San Francisco and the Bay Area, with additional growth ongoing. Responsibilities 006790 % of time Essential Function (Yes/No) Key Responsibilities (To be completed by Supervisor) Directs subordinate managers, supervisors, and professional staff; oversees adherence to schedules, policies, procedures, work plans, and performance requirements to achieve broadly stated goals and objectives Establishes and monitors operating and capital budgets, manages expenses, and prepares financial analysis Coordinates space planning and equipment needs / maintenance Develops short and long-term goals and objectives for departments Establishes metrics to evaluate quality and measure service effectiveness Directs data collection and provides analysis to support operational improvements Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, quality guidelines, and organizational policies and procedures Provides direction to subordinate managers and reviews personnel actions Conducts performance evaluations for subordinate managers and professional staff Facilitates staff training and professional development opportunities Collaborates across departments to resolve problems and coordinate services Ensures quality and continuity of services Represents departments on interdisciplinary committees Builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal leaders and external agencies Required

Bachelor's degree in business, health administration or clinical degree and / or equivalent experience / training. 5 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in radiology Significant management experience in a complex health care organization. Thorough knowledge of health care delivery models, business and strategic planning, financial management, and organizational development. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with medical center leaders and external agencies.

Ability to establish and utilize metrics to support operational and process improvement. Thorough knowledge of budget development, financial analysis, and reporting techniques. Advanced verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and influence others. Ability to build and maintain a climate of trust and collaboration.

Master's Degree in business, health administration or clinical degree. Licensed technologist in a radiology modality
