The Director Outpatient Laboratory oversees the day-to-day clinical and business operations of the outpatient laboratory service lines including the Regional Lab specimen receiving and processing, lab courier services, OP Lab Customer Service, and all Lee Health lab draw stations. This leader is responsible for management of non-licensed personnel performing pre-analytical and post-analytical support functions within these sections.
The Director Outpatient Laboratory reports to the Administrative Lab Director of the Regional Laboratory and works collaboratively with the System Director of Laboratory Services on system-wide initiatives for OP lab services. Develops and coordinates training programs and ensures staff competency. Participates with laboratory leadership and the Laboratory Medical Director in the research, development, and implementation of new processes, associated policies and procedures for specimen collection and processing.
Ensure quality, safety, and customer service are provided by staff at the highest level through training, monitoring, and performance improvement activities. Promotes excellent customer service by interacting courteously with patients, providers, nurses, and other LH leaders as representatives of the laboratory. Identifies and participates in service line expansion opportunities.
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent required. BS or BA preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of recent Supervisory / Management experience in a clinical laboratory required. Certification: NA License: NA Other: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Requires strong analytical skills, good time management skills, and ability to solve problems.
