POSITION STANDARDS Associates Degree from accredited cardiac ultrasound program or RDCS/RCS-eligible background with 1 year of cardiac echo experience. Proficient on all equipment in the lab within the first 3 months of employment. Certified through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Adult Echocardiography or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) in Adult Echocardiography.

Performance Expectation Performs all basic adult cardiac echocardiogram procedures. Edits tracings, makes measurements and enters data into computer. Distinguishes between normal and abnormal cardiac findings.
Performs cardiac sonographer duties to meet departmental needs including recognizing arrhythmias and implications of specific cardiac and related diagnoses to obtain optimal studies. Operates complex equipment accordingly. Participates in imaging conference presentations.
Facilitates patient flow within the section and maintains a pro-active approach in dealing with patient concerns. Participates in Quality Assurance and quality control programs. Ensures that equipment failures are reported and documented.
