The Emergency Medical Technician performs and documents direct routine patient care under licensed provider's supervision according to hospitals guidelines. ResponsibilitiesNecessary
1. Knowledge of patient care and basic human needs within life span.2. Knowledge of medical terminology3.
Knowledge of aseptic techniques4. Knowledge of acute and chronic disease processes5. Knowledge of standard universal precautions6.
Basic knowledge of anatomic structure and human body systems7. Ability to recognize obvious job-related emergencies8. Ability to maintain confidentiality9.
Ability to read and write in English10. Recognition of lethal EKG rhythms11. Performance of electrocardiograms12.
IV insertion13. Urinary catheter insertion14. Gastric tube insertion15.
Phlebotomy16. Basic wound care17. Splinting of musculoskeletal injuries18.
Automatic External Defibrillator operation19. Chest compressions20. Eye irrigation QualificationsAge of Patients Served: All Age Groups.
Required
High School Diploma or GED or Vocational Training Required Licensure/Certifications: Current Florida EMT license -OR- current Florida Paramedic licenseBLS from the American Heart Association Required
Less than 1 of practical clinical experience. Preferred
1 or more years previous experience in a health care environment.
