How you'll contribute An Elder Associate who excels at this role: Perform basic patient care skills under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Demonstrate safe practices with caring for patients. Provides general nursing care such as position the patient, lifting, turning, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting in the use of bed pan, urinal or commode, ambulating the patient, bed bath, oral and hair care, changing bed linens, cleaning and straightening patient room and other general care necessary. Takes and records vitals and intake and output measurements accurately.
Documents in a timely manner. Answers Elder call lights, telephone, and paging system and respond as appropriate. What we're looking for Applicants must have a Michigan Nurse Aide certification (CNA) required (must be obtained within 4 months of hire) Additional Requirements include: Basic Life Support (BLS) required (available upon hire) ServSafe required within 6 months of hire Graduate of a Program in Discipline required High School Diploma or equivalent required Minimum 1-2 years of CNA experience preferred Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. We are a certified Eden Alternative facility and take great pride in providing a home-like environment for residents. Portage Pointe is regulated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), a member of the American Health Care Association (AHCA), and a member of the Healthcare Association of Michigan (HCAM).
