The Emergency Department Nurse Manager has 24 hour accountability for the daily operations in the nursing unit, serving as a role model and leader. The Emergency Department Nurse Manager oversees and coordinates the emergency care provided by the department and assists the Emergency Department Director with staff development, oversees competencies, assists with quality and risk programs and promotes Jennie Stuart Health goals, philosophies, policies and procedures.

Maintains hospital standards for a clean and quiet patient environment to maintain a positive patient care experience.
Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practice. Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations. Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities.

Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information. Maintains compliance with the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) rules and regulations.

Clinical Practice Directs and coordinates emergency care provided within the department.

Procures and distributes medication from secure locations per work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. Maintains credential appropriate for the Emergency Department (ACLS, BLS & PALS). Administrative Communicates effectively with peers, staff, leadership and providers.

Ability to work in fast-paced ever-changing environment Strong computer skills Above average communication skills, both written and verbal Minimum Education Graduate of an approved school of nursing. BSN required Required Licensure Currently licensed in the State of Kentucky or Compact State as a Registered Nurse and in good standing. Required Experience Three years clinical nursing experience required Prior management in the Emergency Department setting, preferred.
